Join us in shaping the next generation of changemakers! Having fun, feeling energized, and being fulfilled are all benefits of volunteering with FIRST Tech Challenge. When you join our community, you’ll experience the excitement that our program can be for students and adults alike. It does not matter whether you have four hours on a weekend, want to mentor or coach for a season, or just want to be a part of the overall experience – there are opportunities for every kind of volunteer. When you say, “Yes, I want to help!” you’re also helping our non-profit organisation fuel its mission of changing the world – one student at a time.

Event volunteer

No matter your availability and the level you want to be involved in, there is a role for you, from safety attendees to judges, and emcees to referees. Some roles require minimal time commitment with succinct day-of preparation. Other roles require pre-event training and longer participation on event days. Technical and non-technical event volunteer roles are available to support our events.

Event volunteers can be:
    • FIRST alumni 
    • Parents 
    • Teachers
    • Professionals (technical or non-technical) 
    • Employees of corporate sponsors 
    • College students and faculty 
    • FIRST teams/participants 
    • Friends and family members of students
Mentor and coaches

As a mentor or coach of a FIRST team, you help inspire and empower students to be innovators. You’re working side by side with FIRST participants to build their leadership and problem-solving skills and, more importantly, their sense of belonging and self-confidence.

As a mentor or coach you can:
    • Share your skills and knowledge with students.
    • Nurture and grow your own skill set and career development.
    • Be inspired by the students.
    • Give back to your community.
